Global Methodist Church

The Global Methodist Church is a Protestant conservative Wesleyan denomination of Christianity that split from the United Methodist Church on May 1, 2022.

Origins

The Global Methodist Church split from the United Methodist Church as a result of the latter’s official stance on homosexuality and having homosexuals be allowed to serve as pastors and preachers within the church. Consequently, since its split, the United Methodist Church has lost over 7,600 church congregations in favor of the more conservative Global Methodist Church. See Schism.

Beliefs & Governance

Since its inception, God’s Spirit has enlivened the Methodist movement. In the 1720s John and Charles Wesley and friends at Oxford University met together to deepen their Christian faith through daily, practical spiritual disciplines. Derided by others as a “new sect of Methodists” for their “methodical” ways of practicing the faith and holding one another accountable to it, the small group embraced the insult and persevered in their fellowship. And so they and the millions who followed after them have ever since been known as “the people called Methodists.” In that spirit, this Book of Doctrines and Discipline (BDD) of the Global Methodist Church is intended to serve as a resource for all who wish to join in a “methodical,” practical, and warm-hearted pursuit of loving God and serving others as Jesus’ disciples in the world

The Global Methodist Church exists to make disciples of Jesus Christ and spread scriptural holiness across the globe. Global Methodist Church worship, desires to surrender to and be fully devoted to one God—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We are passionate about what is important to God. Jesus calls those who follow Him to love God wholeheartedly and love their neighbors as themselves. The Church's desire is to demonstrate to the world the extravagant love of God in the person of Jesus Christ.
The Global Methodist Church has been entrusted with a lifesaving and transforming message that we must share with others. The Church's witness is bold, compelling and fearless. The Church's mission advances when individuals become disciples of Jesus Christ and join God’s mission to make more disciples.

Connectional Structure

The Global Methodist Church operates through a connectional structure that emphasizes partnership, mutual support, and a shared commitment to the mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ. The denomination provides theological alignment, resources, and guidance to help all parts of the church thrive. Annual conferences serve as regional networks that connect, equip, and support local congregations in ministry. At the community level, local churches are the living expression of the church’s mission—where people gather to worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly. Each level of this structure plays a vital role, working together to advance the Gospel in word and action.,
