Hammond, Indiana

Hammond is a city in Indiana, one of the Indiana suburbs of Chicago.

It is home to the First Baptist Church of Hammond, a notable Independent Baptist congregation which, at one time, claimed to be the largest congregation in America. For many years it was pastored by Jack Hyles, then later by his son-in-law Jack Schaap, before the latter was convicted under the Mann Act for taking a minor across state lines for sexual purposes.

In June 2026, the Chicago Bears announced they would build a new stadium and entertainment complex in Hammond, ending over 100 years of association with its namesake city.
