Happy Hour (tract)
Happy Hour is a religious tract written by Jack Chick. It was originally printed in 2002, and remains an in-stock title. It is listed on their website under the subject "Drugs/Alcohol" and also tagged as "Basic Gospel".
Jerry is the patriarch of a family of four (wife Alice, older child Janice and younger child Bobby). He is an alcoholic who spends his money on his addiction instead of providing for his family. An argument with Alice (where she tries to stop him from spending their last money on alcohol) leads to her being injured (the children overhear the argument, and are watched for by Mrs. Jenkins, a Christian neighbor). Janice finds Jerry at a bar but he won't come with her; later, Alice dies in the hospital of a "broken heart" and Jerry does not come to the funeral, which leads Janice to begin hating him.
A well-meaning relative gives Janice some money for groceries to give to Jerry; as usual he spends it on alcohol. But Janice now turns the tables on him: she breaks the bottles, threatens to cut him open with the broken bottle and (after he pleads with his children to help him battle his addiction) refuses to forgive him.
But after attending a Sunday morning service where Janice learns the necessity of forgiveness, she forgives Jerry and invites him to the evening service, where he hears the Gospel and places his faith in Christ.
In the final scene (depicted as three years later) Janice tells her dad "[t]his is my happy hour!".
