Hawkins, Texas

Hawkins is a town in east Texas.
Just east of the city (on US Highway 80) is Jarvis Christian University, which is a private, historically Black university affiliated with the Disciples of Christ. It was one of 12 such colleges founded by the Disciples but is the only one still in operation.
In 2025 the city was rocked by allegations of political corruption, which at one point resulted in the entire city police force either resigning or being fired.
