The Hechinger Report is an online report about education, named after Fred M. Hechinger who was a longtime education editor of The New York Times until 1990. Hechinger supported public schools and authored multiple books.

This Report has been a leader in investigating the issue of teaching -- or failing to properly teach -- children how to read. See "Sold a story: How teaching kids to read went so wrong. A new podcast from APM Reports investigates how an idea about reading instruction proliferated in classrooms even though it was proven wrong by scientists decades ago." (Oct. 20, 2022).[1]
