The Battle of Heiligenbeil Pocket took place in March,1945, during World War II between Soviet and German Nazi forces. The German 4th Army was surrounded and almost entirely wiped out by the Soviets who were led by Marshals Konstantin Rokossovsky and Aleksandr Vasilevsky. An estimated 98,000 German soldiers were killed. The battle took place in what is now Kaliningrad Oblast, Russia.
