James Hugh Calum Laurie, known as Hugh Laurie (born June 11, 1959) is an English actor and comedian.

His first comedic performances were with the famed Footlights Club at Cambridge University. It was whilst on tour with them that he first met Stephen Fry.

He then went on to achieve prominence as a comic actor appearing in the BBC productions Blackadder and Jeeves and Wooster.

He became known to an international audience through his roles in films such as Sense and Sensibility and the Stuart Little series. He is best known today for his title role in Fox's House, MD.
