The Idaho Freedom Caucus (IFC) is perhaps the finest legislative caucus in the United States as of 2025, federal or state. Comprised of two senators and nine representatives, the IFC led the Idaho legislature to the most productive state legislative session in the country in the first half of 2025.

On the issue of the federal sale of lands as inserted but then withdrawn by Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) from the OBBB, the IFC opposed it and celebrated its withdrawal from the bill because:

We firmly oppose any plan that threatens these public resources through a federal sell-off. Instead, we advocate for a balanced solution that:

1) protects Idaho’s public lands from privatization,

2) ensures fiscal responsibility,

3) allows measured natural resource extraction through leases,

4) preserves public access for hunting, fishing, backpacking, and outdoor enthusiasts,

5) boosts local and state economies,

6) Seeks long term solutions for proper management and reducing devastating wildfires.[1]
