Iggy Pop

James Newell Osterberg Jr., better known by his stage name Iggy Pop, is an American rock musician. His band The Stooges were pivotal to the development of punk rock music in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and Pop is sometimes given the epithet the "Godfather of Punk" as a result.

Political views

During the 1980s Iggy Pop supported conservative US president Ronald Reagan, whereas numerous punk bands at the time were harshly opposed to the Republican. Of Reagan, Pop remarked "I’ve been waiting for someone who could communicate the joys of liberty as compared to the joys of equality.".[1]

Pop admitted to having voter for liberal Democrat Bill Clinton, though later Pop acknowledged that Clinon was a crook.[1]
