The Indian Citizenship Act of 1924[1] extended citizenship to all American Indians born within the United States. This demonstrated that there is no birthright citizenship under the Fourteenth Amendment; an Act of Congress was required to grant such citizenship to American Indians.

Rep. Homer P. Snyder (R-NY) introduced this law in Congress, and President Calvin Coolidge signed it into law.
