An inhalant is any substance that can be inhaled, specifically, any substance contained in an aerosol container and having volatile gases. "Inhalant" is used in this context when they are abused as drugs. Examples include computer duster, air freshener and spray paint.

Inhalant use is a sad story, since it is the fastest-growing drug problem in America, especially among young children and people with no access to drugs. One-third of people who try out inhalants die on their first try, due to the deadly chemicals. It is therefore recommended that these common household items should be kept away from young children.
