It Was Jesus is a Southern Gospel song performed by The Wisecarvers, a family-based group out of Tennessee.

The song tells of God's miraculous provision in unexpected ways:

  • In the first verse, the singer spills coffee on the floor of her home, making her 20 minutes late, and then to discover a traffic jam on the interstate, but when she sees the flashing lights of a first responder, she realizes that God was protecting her from possibly becoming a victim in the accident.
  • In the second verse and the chorus, the singer tells of someone diagnosed with cancer, and given only six months to a year to live, but (as verified by her doctor) the cancer is miraculously healed without medical treatment being needed (though the person regularly visits her doctor in the interim).
  • Also in the chorus, the singer tells of how all the money (in a paycheck) is gone but the bills are paid, not by borrowing money, but by giving it away (ostensibly to others in greater need).
