Jackson, Mississippi

Jackson is the capital city and the most populous city of Mississippi. It is one of two county seats, Edwards being the other, for Hinds County.

Heavily liberal, Jackson is some 80 percent African-American and 18 percent white in composition. The city had a population of 153,701 at the 2020 census. The city is known for being dangerous with one of highest crime rates in the country.[1]

It is the home of Jackson State University, a HBCU.
