Jacob Rothschild

Nathaniel Charles Jacob Rothschild, 4th Baron Rothschild (29 April 1936) is a British banker and member of the Rothschild family.


Jacob Rothschild is the eldest son of Victor Rothschild (the 3rd Baron Rothschild), he grew up in an orthodox-Jewish family and has been studied on Eton College and later Christ Church in Oxford, England. He is the 4th Baron Rothschild since 1990.


In the 1960s he worked for the N M Rothschild & Sons the family bank of the Rothschilds in London but divorced in 1980 after a family dispute, he is also the founder of RIT Capital Partners plc.[1] which is listed on the London Stock Exchange. From 2003 till 2008 he was co-chair of the TV-station Britsh Sky Broadcasting, a media company owned by Rupert Murdoch.


His country estate has been a regular venue for visiting heads of state including Presidents Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton. Former UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher received the former French President François Mitterrand there at a summit in 1990.
