Jahana Flemming Hayes (born March 8, 1973, age 53) is a high school teacher and liberal Democrat who currently represents Connecticut's 5th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives.

2018 election

After Democrat representative Elizabeth Esty announced in April 2018 that she wouldn't run for re-election in the 2018 midterm elections after sheltering a staffer who abused a female aide,[2] Hayes announced her run several months later.[3] The latter soon won the general election, defeating Republican opponent Manny Santos by over 10% of the vote.[4]

Tenure

Hayes supported[5] and voted in favor of the impeachment coup against Donald Trump.[6]
