Joe Fox (Michigan Representative)

Joseph D. Fox (born September 15, 1954) is an American politician serving as a Republican member of the Michigan House of Representatives, representing the 101st district since January 1, 2023. His district includes all of Newaygo County and parts of Lake, Mason, Oceana, and Wexford counties.

Early Life and Education

Fox was born in Tecumseh, Michigan. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy/Religion and Psychology from Spring Arbor College in 1976. He later obtained a Master of Divinity from Calvin Theological Seminary in 1982 and a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Western Michigan University in 1991. Additionally, he pursued studies in Education Leadership at Eastern Michigan University.

Career

Fox has dedicated much of his career to education and community service. He served as a Christian school teacher and principal for 25 years and was a pastor and missionary for seven years. Prior to his election, he was the Director of the Newaygo County Commission on Aging for seven years.

Political Career

In November 2022, Fox was elected to the Michigan House of Representatives for the 101st district. He serves on the House Committee on Families, Children, and Seniors.

Personal Life

Fox has been married to his wife, Barbara, for over 40 years. They reside in Fremont, Michigan, and have four adult children and 12 grandchildren. He is ordained in the Christian Reformed Church and attends Harvest Church in Fremont. An outdoor enthusiast, Fox enjoys birding, hiking, kayaking, biking, hunting, and snowshoeing.
