John Sanford

John C. Sanford (born 1950) was a Cornell University Associate Professor of Horticultural Sciences at Cornell University, New York State Agricultural Experiment Station for more than 25 years and has been semi-retired since 1998. His Ph.D. was in plant breeding and plant genetics.[1]

While a professor at Cornell, John has trained graduate students and conducted genetic research at the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station in Geneva, NY.[2]

Sanford is a researcher in the field of plant genetics and he is currently looking at the theoretical limits of mutation and selection.

Sanford has published over 80 scientific publications and has been awarded over 30 patents. His most notable scientific contributions involve three inventions, the biolistic (“gene gun”) process, pathogen-derived resistance, and genetic immunization. A large percentage of the transgenic crops (in terms of numbers and acreage) grown in the world today were genetically engineered using the gene gun technology developed by John and his colleagues.[3]

John also started two biotech enterprises derived from his research, Biolistics, Inc., and Sanford Scientific, Inc. Sandfored still retains a position at Cornell (Courtesy Associate Professor), but has largely retired from Cornell and has started a small non-profit organization, Feed My Sheep Foundation.[4]

A former atheist and a scientific convert to young earth creationism, his new book Genetic Entropy and the Mystery of the Genome explains why human DNA is inexorably deteriorating at an alarming rate, thus cannot be millions of years old.[5]

In 2011, Sanford gave a strong endorsement of Dr. Jonathan Sarfati's book The Greatest Hoax on Earth? which thoroughly refuted evolutionist and atheist Richard Dawkins’ book The Greatest Show on Earth: The Evidence for Evolution.

Dr. Sanford wrote:

Any rational debate requires the honest presentation of both sides. But there exists a powerful, self-styled ‘intellectual elite’ which would deny us the right to consider all the evidence. They would have a debate wherein only one side was heard, while the other side was either ignored or grossly misrepresented. It is crucial that all honest truth-seekers who read Dawkins'book The Greatest Show on Earth also read Jonathan Sarfati's book The Greatest Hoax on Earth?.”[6]
