John Khoury

John Andersson Khoury (born July 17, 1964, Panama Canal Zone) is an American author, photographer, and poet. He is famous for his poem about Mexican immigrants to the United States, Pene.


Biography

Khoury was born to a Swedish mother and a Lebanese Christian father in the Canal Zone. When he was five, his parents bought him a toy camera. He became obsessed and became very skilled of photography. One of his most famous pictures, that of several Panamanian workers, was taken when he was nine. He attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he received a PhD in expository journalism. Once a columnist for Time Magazine, he now writes for Newsweek.
