John Raese

John R. Raese (born April 10, 1950, in Baltimore, Maryland) is a Morgantown, West Virginia businessman and the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate during the 2010 election against Democratic Governor Joe Manchin.

Raese attended West Virginia public schools and received a bachelor's degree from West Virginia University. He is currently president and CEO of Greer Industries, which employs roughly 1,000 people.

Raese ran for the U.S. Senate in 1984 against two-term Governor Jay Rockefeller. Although outspent nearly 13–1, Raese nearly lost by four percentage points. He again unsuccessfully challenged Democratic Senator, the Exalted Cyclops Robert Byrd in 2006.
