Karbala

Karbala is a city in Southern, Iraq that has a population of 619,000. It is considered a holy city by those who practice Shia Islam. The Battle of Karbala took place here (not to be confused with the Battle of Karbala in the Invasion of Iraq). During which, Some have speculated that Hussian the grandson of Muhammad fought Yazeed, a corrupt and tyrannical ruler, in battle. [1] Karbala is where the martyrdom of Hussian took place and where he is buried. Many Shia Muslims around the world travel to the city of Karbala, Iraq to visit the shrine of Hussein. Karbala is considered by Shia Muslims to be generally a much safer City in Iraq because they have more of a security presence there to protect the pilgrims.
