LaGuardia Airport is in the borough of Queens in New York City. A perimeter rule prohibits nonstop flights to or from points beyond 1,500 statute miles (2,400 km) of the airport, but exceptions to the perimeter rule are flights on Saturdays and flights to Denver. Most transcontinental flights use JFK or Newark.

US Airways Flight 1549, better known as the Miracle on the Hudson, took off from LaGuardia but shortly afterwards was struck by a flock of geese disabling both of its engines.
