La Mon Hotel Bombing

The La Mon House Hotel, near Belfast, was firebombed by the Provisional IRAon 17 February 1978, as part of the IRA campaign of terrorist murder to force Northern Ireland into a united Ireland against the wishes of the majority of its population. Twelve civilans were killed - some burned beyond recognition - and scores were badly wounded when the IRA detonated a massive firebomb at the hotel, attacking events hosted by the Irish Collie Club and the Northern Ireland Junior Motorcycle Club.
