Liberal Democratic Party

Liberal Democratic Party is the name of about 25 political parties in different countries throughout the world. Often formed by the merger of a Liberal Party and a Democratic Party the name cannot be relied upon to indicate a position in the political spectrum. Outside the U.S. "Liberal" in politics usually means Libertarian. Thus in Japan the Liberal Democratic Party is a conservative party.
