Lindisfarne Abbey was a monastery located on a tidal island of the north-east coast of England. It was founded by St. Aidan of Lindisfarne in AD 635.
In 793, the monastery was raided by Vikings. The attack is today often described as the beginning of the Viking Age. Today, it is a ruin.
