Lucy Van Pelt or just Lucy is a fictional character from the Peanuts comic strip. The older sister of Linus and Rerun, she's very bossy and demanding and yells a lot which makes other characters flip around and fall. She's not the ideal big sister for Linus and she's the one who comes down the most on Charlie Brown for him not doing things right. That said, while not being the ideal big sister for Linus, she has shown instances of caring for his well-being, as in the ending of It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!, after it became apparent that her brother Linus slept outside the whole time trying to wait for the Great Pumpkin, she went outside to get him into the house and put him to bed when noticing he hadn't returned.

Notable themes of the comic are threads where Charlie Brown comes up to kick a football that Lucy is holding, and she always pulls it away, but is somehow able to talk him into trying again next time (in the TV special It's Your First Kiss, Charlie Brown, Lucy's actions with the football, committed four times during a Homecoming football game, cause Charlie Brown's team to lose the game, yet their teammate Peppermint Patty misguidedly blamed Charlie Brown for Lucy's misdeeds in scenes from the special which proved highly controversial with its audience, who let Peanuts creator Charles Schulz know about it in no uncertain terms). She is also the neighborhood psychiatrist, charging five cents to listen to problems and give generally useless advice, but Charlie Brown keeps coming back to that as well.

Lucy has a crush on Schroeder, but all he's interested in is his piano.

Lucy, Linus, and Rerun are all of Dutch descent.
