Lycanthropy is the mythical ability for a human being to transform into some sort of animal, most famously a wolf (werewolf). It comes from the Greek λυκος (lykos) for wolf and ανθρωπος (anthropos) for human.

The subject is a type of magic (or curse), referred to in fiction and is common theme in the fantasy genre.
