Maximilien Luce (1858 - 1941) was a French painter. He was an important artist in Pointillism and social realism. Luce was also a great friend of Camille Pissarro, George-Pierre Seurat, Theo Van Rysselberghe and Louis Valtat. For a number of years he was strictly "pointillist" adopting later a looser technique. Landscapes and urban scenes depicting the world of the working class (builders, dockers, laborers, fishermen) in the 1930s occupy a predominant place in his work. [1]
