McLintock

McLintock is a rare gem among Westerns, at heart a romantic comedy while also taking several political and social issues head on. It stars John Wayne as a cattle baron in a late-19th century territory, who gets a visit from his estranged (and irate) wife. He displays an exceptional empathy for the local Indians, defending them from the so-called "government benevolence" of the local Indian agent. His wife is in town to welcome their daughter home from college and to take her back East.
