Melky Cabrera (born August 11, 1984 Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) is a Major League Baseball outfielder for the New York Yankees. One of the youngest players on the Yankees, Cabrera has been for the last two seasons a consistent player in the Yankees lineup. He first came up from the Yankees baseball farm system in 2005 and played in six games with the team. Due to injuries in the Yankees outfield in 2006 (Hideki Matsui broken wrist, Gary Sheffield hurt wrist), Cabrera was called up from the farm system once again. He preformed good enough to earn a spot on the team even when the injured players returned. He finished the 2006 season playing in 130 games, had a .280 batting average, 7 home runs, 50 RBI's, 12 stolen bases and also was a great defensive player as well.
