Middlemarch (1874) is a novel from the 19th century by George Eliot (whose real name was Maryanne Evans).
This novel was ranked as the #1 greatest British novel by the BBC, by a landslide.[1] At 316,059 words, it is longer than most novels. It is in the public domain now and freely available online.[2]
The plot follows a set of characters in the fictional English town of Middlemarch, and explores ideas of love, family, perceptions of others, and deep religious experience. It has no references of any significance to the Bible or biblical truths.
