Murasaki Shikibu

Murasaki Shikibu, also called Lady Murasaki, lived from AD 973 to 1025. She was a writer who lived in Japan during the Heian Period. Her story, The Tale of Genji is considered the first philosophical novel. Murasaki Shikibu is not a name, but a court title. She probably belonged to the Fujiwara clan.
