My Mother the Car
My Mother the Car was a situation comedy television show which aired for a single season on NBC (September 1965 through April 1966).
The show's premise revolved around David Crabtree, an attorney (played by Dick Van Dyke's younger brother Jerry) who purchased a 1928 Porter touring car, only to discover that it was the reincarnation of his late mother (who would communicate with him through the car's radio). Crabtree managed to purchase and restore the vehicle before Captain Manzini (a fanatical car collector, who was portrayed much like a 1920s silent film villain) was able; the remaining series featured Manzini's attempts to obtain the vehicle from Crabtree by any means, legal or otherwise.
Notwithstanding that the show featured an experienced production team with bona fide credentials in comedy television, and that it aired at the same time period as other shows with fantastical gimmicks (such as Mister Ed with a talking horse), the show has regularly been portrayed among the worst television shows of all time.
