NIMBY

NIMBY is an acronym for Not In My Back Yard. It refers to people (generally liberals) who oppose placing a facility or development (often admittedly needed) near them.
An example would be liberals calling for "more affordable housing", but opposing subsidized apartments in their neighborhood.
