National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare
Through its political action committee the Committee openly supports Democratic Party candidates and opposes Republican Party candidates. As such it has supported passage of the Affordable Care Act. and opposed the passage of the Medicare Modernization Act of 2003 and the Republican Party's efforts to reform Social Security in 2005.
In addition, the Committee attempted to scam members and potential supporters by offering, for $10, to send a printout of a person's Social Security records, notwithstanding that any person can obtain his/her records free from the Social Security Administration. The organization eventually halted this appeal.
