Neil E. Goldschmidt

Neil Goldschmidt (born 1940) is an Oregon politician. He served as mayor of Portland (1973-1979), Secretary of Transportation under President Jimmy Carter (1979-1981), and Governor of Oregon (1987-1991). Goldschmidt is a Democrat. After leaving public office he pursued a career as a lobbyist and public relations consultant. In 2004, the Portland alternative newspaper Willamette Week revealed that Goldschmidt had sexual relations with a minor girl in the 1970s,[1] while Mayor of Portland. He was not prosecuted because the statute of limitations had lapsed.
