New York election laws require a relatively high amount of election integrity. This explains why there were Republican gains there in 2022 consistent with polling, while election fraud elsewhere in the country resulted in unexpected Dem reported wins.

Specifically, New York is one of only 15 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands that properly requires justification in order to vote by mail (except for military and overseas voters).[1]
