Notepad++ ("Notepad plus-plus") is a free, open-source office program for editing text. It can read and edit a variety of files, including text, rich text, and many source code files. It is especially useful when coding, since it includes a number of useful functions for this. Notepad++ is protected by a GNU license, which means it is not only free to download, but free to redistribute for free or a fee.[1]
Politics
The developers of Notepad++ are clearly liberal, as right on their home page is mention of their environmentalist leanings. They say they try to make the program as efficient as possible to reduce CO2 emissions.[2] No outside political activity is known at this time.
