November Christmas

A Christmas Visitor is a 2010 made for television Christmas film, originally released on the CBS network.

Plot

Vanessa Marks, age 8, is given a snow globe by her father, Tom. Inside the globe is a little girl who is also holding a snow globe. Vanessa mentions that she would love to see snow for Christmas. Her father is concerned, since Vanessa is a cancer patient, that she may not live to see Christmas at all.

Tom asks a local farmer, Jess, where he can buy pumpkins -- and later Christmas trees -- ahead of season. Jess realizes that Tom is trying to help Vanessa celebrate the upcoming holidays before she likely dies. Jess (who lost his son years prior) agrees to help, in the process healing an old friendship lost after his own son's passing (and receiving an invitation to his friend's upcoming wedding as best man). Jess also enlists the help of Tammy, a local waitress, in the plans; Tammy discovers a previously unknown talent for storytelling.

The family -- and the entire town in the process -- unite to help Vanessa celebrate each holiday a month early. After a sorrowful hospital visit, the family discovers that not only is their home decorated early, all her neighbors have as well. After a holiday meal (provided by a local restaurant) Vanessa runs outside with her snow globe, just as an early snow begins to fall.

The final scene shows a young woman at a local library reading a children's book at a storytelling session. Tammy is the book's author, but the young woman reading the book isn't her: it is in fact Vanessa, who survived her bout with cancer.
