Oceana County, Michigan is a county located in the western region of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, along the shores of Lake Michigan. As of the 2020 census, the county's population was 26,659. The county seat is Hart, and it is known for its agricultural contributions, particularly its production of asparagus, earning it the nickname "Asparagus Capital of the World."

History

Oceana County was established in 1831 and organized in 1855. The name "Oceana" reflects its proximity to Lake Michigan and was likely inspired by the area's extensive shoreline.
