Endorsements

Kuppa was endorsed by the Detroit Free Press in 2018[2] as well as progressive organizations such as Planned Parenthood.[Citation Needed]

General election

Kuppa ran for office in 2018 to the Michigan House of Representatives, and defeated Republican candidate Doug Tietz by less than 3 percent of the vote.[3]

Tenure

While Kuppa's 2018 campaign focused on fixing general problems within Michigan,[Citation Needed] her voting record on some issues may have been more liberal than many anticipated once in office.[4] In one instance, Kuppa voted with her party line against prohibiting dilation and evacuation abortions.[5] She also voted against a bipartisan measure to amend punishments for those that commit concealed carry violations.[6]
