A patent broker is a firm that buys, holds, and sells patents to enable companies to adjust their patent portfolios. Many thousands of new patents are managed or traded by patent brokers annually. [1] The career became feasible in the knowledge-based economy of the Information Age and relies on the use of patents as a commodity.[2] Most patent brokerage consists of the sale of patents from inventors to corporations.[3][4]
