Petty bourgeoisie

The petty bourgeoisie, or petite bourgeoisie, consisted of shop-owners, self-employed professionals such as physicians, and family-owned businesses that mixed productive property with family labor. Karl Marx targeted this class as an impediment to the communist revolution.
