Pro-Life Apologetics

Pro-Life Apologetics is a reasoned defense of the pro-life position against abortion, in rebuttal of the pro-abortion culture prevalent at many American and European universities. It is also affirmative in its reasoning about the benefits of a pro-life ideology, and its logical truth.

Pro-Life Apologetics is analogous to Christian Apologetics.

Rebuttals of Pro-Abortion Statements

Pro-aborts are clever and deceptive in their sloganeering and rhetoric, and it helps to be ready with logical, effective responses. Here are some examples:

• "my body, my choice"

Rebuttal: start with a concise rebuttal, as in "a child, not a choice", "choose life, not death", "chose to protect, not to kill", or "God's choice, for life". From there, a more substantive response can include explaining that many laws prohibit making certain choices about your body, such as taking drugs or other harmful activity. Also, pro-abortion states like California and New York order people to take vaccine injections without any religious exemptions. Environmental laws prohibit harming certain animals, such as endangered species, even if they are on your own private property. A child deserves as much protection.

Rhetorical questions in response can be used, while expecting the pro-abort side to address them, as in "what about the unborn child's choice"?

• "reproductive freedom"

Rebuttal: start with something concise, such as "there is no freedom to inflict harm", "often the father opposes abortion, but his rights are ignored", or "children are a gift from God".

• "rape victims should not be forced to bear a child from that"

Rebuttal: "two horrible wrongs don't make a right", "abortion increases the risk of suicide", "abortion makes the grief worse", "the child is an innocent life", or "children heal in time of stress". Also, pregnancy from rape is rare, and comprise only a tiny percentage of abortions that are performed. Then explain that many of us are asked to sacrifice our lives for others: our soldiers, firefighters, police officers and others in everyday life.
