Purple Rain (1984) was a musical movie that was a box-office hit, racking up $72 million in ticket sales on a production budget of only $7.2 million.[1]
The artist Prince starred in the movie and scored its music soundtrack. It was filmed almost entirely in Minneapolis, which was Prince's hometown.
