A Quasi-Autonomous Non-Governmental Organization (or quango) is any one of over a thousand organizations which the British government sponsors.[1] Some quangos advise on policy, others directly deliver public services. Quangos are created by an Act of Parliament or by an executive decision, and their heads are appointed by Cabinet ministers. They are funded by tax money.
