Ray Palmer

Ray Palmer was a Congregational minister, who was the son of Judge Thomas Palmer.[1] Although he held several different positions in several churches, he is perhaps best remembered for the hymns he wrote.
Background
Ray Palmer, the son of Judge Thomas Palmer, was born on November 12, 1808, in the small town of Little Compton, Rhode Island. He attend Phillips Academy Andover, then went to Yale University (when it was still a Christian collage) and graduated in 1820. He then became pastor of the Congregational Church at Bath, Maine (from 1835 to 1850), then the First Congregational Church of Albany, N. Y. (from 1850 to 1865).[2]
