Richard Russell, Sr.

Richard Brevard Russell, Sr. (April 27, 1861 – December 3, 1938) was a Georgia jurist and lawyer who served in the state's Supreme Court from 1923 until his death. He previously was a state legislator, elected to the lower body from Clarke County. One of Russell's sons was Richard Russell, Jr., who served as the longtime segregationist senator from the state and was known for his efforts to halt civil rights legislation.

Russell during his political career had ties to the KKK and cooperated with their members on enacting policies.
