From Conservapedia
The Rig Veda is the most fundamental of the sacred Vedic Hindu texts.[1]
It is a collection of Hymns telling the stories of the Hindu gods. First done in written form from 1200 - 900 BC. It is among the oldest Sanskrit writings. Some question exists about the actual age of the Vedas with some sources placing them at 4,000 BC or earlier.[1][2]
