Rinkle Kumari
Rinkle Kumari is a young Hindu woman from Pakistan. On early morning of February 24, 2012, Rinkle Kumari was abducted at gun point from her home in the city of Ghotki located in the Sindh province of Pakistan. She was abducted by Muslim men and later on forced to convert to Islam and married off to a Muslim man by the name of Naveed Shah. The men involved in it belong to the Bharchundi Dargah Sharif, a Sufi Muslim mosque, notorious for forced conversion activities. The head of the Dargah is Abdul Haq, also known as "Mian Mithoo".
Mian Mithoo is not only involved in forced conversion but also sells off Hindu girls. Rinkle's father, Nand Lal, a schoolteacher said, "Mian Mithoo is a terrorist. He kidnaps Hindu girls and keep them at his house for sexual purposes and later sells them off".
Rinkle's family received a phone call from the Dargah on the same day as her abduction. The caller said Rinkle is in their custody, had 'embraced Islam' and married 'Naveed Shah'. The family was asked to come to Bharchundi if they wished to meet her. However, knowing the Dargah's culture, they knew what would happen if they went there.
The next day, Rinkle was produced in the court of Civil judge in Ghotki, where she spoke wanting to go back to her family. Mian Mithoo physically slapped her in the courtroom and threatened to set the town of Mirpur Mathelo ablaze if Rinkle's custody is taken from him.
Mian Mithoo's private armed militia, of fanatical Muslims stood outside the courthouse to showcase their power. The Judge of the Court, was familiar with the influence of the Dargah as well as the political power of Mian Mithoo . As a result, he gave the verdict in his favor. The militia went berserk in celebration, dancing on the streets and shouting "Allah-hu-Akbar". They threatened to kill Rinkle and her family and forced her to say that she accepted Islam voluntarily.
Rinkle Kumari's case was referred to the Pakistani Supreme Court. Rinkle Kumari in a heartfelt appeal to the court said, "In Pakistan there is justice for only Muslims, justice is denied Hindus. Kill me here, now, in court. But do not send me back to Darul Aman[Quranic school]...kill me."[1] The Pakistani SC adjourned the hearing for 3 weeks. On April 18th, a 3 member bench comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Khilji Arif Hussain and Justice Tariq Parvez decided in Mian Mithoo's favor. She has not been heard from since 2013 and is presumed to be either dead or in a brothel under the control of Mian Mithoo. [2]
