Rocky (1976) is a sports drama movie written by - and starring - Sylvester Stallone. A down-and-out fighter in Philadelphia gets a title shot, and it changes his life. Directed by John G. Avildsen.

The original movie featured the notable scene of Rocky training on the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art; later a statue of Rocky was placed beside the steps at the museum.[1]

The film spawned five sequels over the course of 30 years.

  • Rocky II (1979)
  • Rocky III (1982)
  • Rocky IV (1985)
  • Rocky V (1990)
  • Rocky Balboa (2006)

In 2015, the film Creed was released. The film tells the story of Adonis Johnson Creed, the son of Apollo Creed. Adonis was born after Apollo was killed in Rocky IV. Wanting to become a boxer like his famous father, he seeks out Rocky Balboa to train him.

  • Creed (2015)
  • Creed 2 (2018)
  • The Museum and the city Art Commission then engaged in a protracted battle over the statue -- the Commission arguing that it was a "movie prop" and relocating it to the city's sports complex, before finally relenting and moving it to a location east of the famous steps.
